When the season started the media had identified the Heat, Pacers, Bulls, Nets and Knicks as the top teams in the East. Since the Heat and Pacers appear to be the only true contenders playing in the East. Before the first tip I would have told you that the Pacers have to worry about two teams standing in their way. First, the Chicago Bulls with a healthy Derrick Rose was one of the Pacers biggest threats. The proof is in the pudding with the Miami Heat – the Pacers can beat them and with an improved bench look poised to dethrone the King.
So who stands in the way of the Indiana Pacers? If the Bulls are no longer a threat and I have unofficially eliminated the Heat by my above statements – who can prevent the Pacers from winning a championship? It must be one of the many talented West Coast teams like the Thunder, Rockets or veteran Spur squad – right? Wrong. The only team that can prevent the Pacers from winning a national championship this year is the Indiana Pacers.
