The reason the Pacers win, is because they aren't playing the same game. Yes, techinically they are all basketball players, but seriously, if you go to a Pacers game (judging by the attendance I realize that its not many of you) or watch a game on FSN (because the major networks don't give us the respect), you see the Pacers playing very different from their competition. Most NBA teams are built around a run and gun style with a lot of isolation and pick and roll type sets. This is a very finesse style of basketball. Gone are the days of Shaq, where a big man equal for sure victories. Now a days a quick, agile point guard is covetted. The main goal of these teams is to shoot better than the opposition and just run up the score. These teams come to Indiana expecting to run and gun and shoot lots of 3's... and well folks... that just not going to happen. The Pacers are a physical, defensive minded team. They are going to put a body on you every trip down the court. The Pacers have guys who can run, but they are big, they have a size advantage at every position, so if they don't beat you down the court... no problem, we can just out big you. The Pacers are also a very unselfish team, you see guys making the extra pass all of the time to get a better look meaning a different guy can beat you every night. This is why everyone has trouble figuring out the Pacers, they don't play the game the same way. This is why Media like ESPN referred to the Pacers as the "bad boys" of the NBA. Have you met these guys? They are a very humble hard working group, if you follow them on twitter its constant posts about being thankful or about how great the fans are. 3 players buy season tickets for die-hard fans.... these guys clearly are thugs. It's just not their fault the rest of the league is soft. The "brawl" Tuesday night is a perfect example of this. Hibbert put a body on Lee, Lee overreacted, because it would have been dirty if another team did it, because other teams don't do that... the Pacers do. 3 Warriors came after Hibbert after he shoved Lee... Clearly the Pacers were the problem... and David West and others stepped into protect Hibbert (which in the old days was just referred to as being a good teammate) completely unacceptable. The Pacers fans didn't throw things on the players (because they are classy). Did Hibbert deserve the punishment he got... probably, but don't paint this team out to be a bunch of thugs, because that's just not who they are. The Pacers are a tough TEAM that plays basketball they way it was meant to be played... the Indiana way. And until the rest of the league figures it out... good luck, because we aren't going away. Gold Swagger!
