Carb Day is a huge party the Friday before the big race. Food, drinks, pit stop competitions, driver autographs, concerts and the Freedom 100 give fans plenty to do. This year the Freedom 100, the Indy Lights series mini version of the Indy 500 ended in dramatic fashion. The national media didn't cover the race but if you missed it be sure to see the final laps below.
Putting that aside two of the drivers in contention were and are fan favorites. Tony Kanaan and Marco Andretti went head to head throughout the race, swapping the lead almost every lap. Not only did Kanaan and Andretti swap the lead many other drivers joined the fun. Drivers like Allmendinger, Munoz, Hunter-Reay, Castroneves, Carpenter and many more went back in forth all day long. In the end Kanaan would come out victorious as he made a dramatic pass in turn one with two laps to go in the race. Right after his pass three time champion Dario hit the wall - giving Kanaan his first Indy 500 victory in eleven attempts. Kanaan is not only a fan favorite but also a great man who truly deserved the victory.
