I was able to sit right down in the barber’s chair and asked for a three on the side and just enough to spike the top. He was an older gentleman and we sparked up a conversation fairly quick. The dialogue went from the cold weather to politics to of course, sports. The conversation about sports wasn’t what I was expecting though. The topic that came up first was the Super Bowl and that ended up being the only topic we had time to discuss.
This year with no invested interest in either team I found myself thinking about the Super Bowl second to the Pacers, College Basketball and other sporting events. I mentioned that last year with the Super Bowl in Indianapolis I was completely invested in the game and the atmosphere. I didn’t care about either team; if anything I extremely dislike the Patriots but I was completely into Super Bowl XXXVI. The barber agreed and mentioned that Indianapolis made a bid for another Super Bowl and then promptly stated that he hopes they don’t get it. I sat, stunned, for a moment thinking about the statement.
The conversation ended with him saying we need to go out on top. Indianapolis is great and should continue hosting the Big Ten tournament, the Final Four and other collegiate events but let’s leave the Super Bowl live as a fond memory. I left my haircut feeling great and knowing I had a topic for Monday but instead of telling you my opinion I want to hear your opinion. Let me know if you think Indianapolis should host another Super Bowl and why or why not by leaving me a comment! I will be sure to start off my next post with my take.
Congrats to the Ravens on a Super Bowl win. I am going to keep it classy – I am sincerely happy for John and I feel confident Jim will be back in the future. Please let me know your thoughts about another Super Bowl in Indianapolis. Live, love and play like there is no tomorrow – thanks for reading!
