To my previous and main point – the Heat did play a poor game. They turned the ball over, they missed shoots, they didn’t get break away points and Wade looked average. This isn’t because the Heat just had an off game though – it is because their opponent deserves to be playing for an Eastern Conference Championship. The Indiana Pacers have made every team they played this year look bad when they play good defense. That is right David Stern and the NBA – a professional basketball team plays defense outside of a Texas area code, and I am not talking about Dallas (sorry Cuban). The defensive pressure, the constant defensive pressure and half court play of the Pacers makes teams look bad. The New York Knicks didn’t shoot well except for one game in the previous series. In that one game New York got hot and the Pacers defense went ice cold – it is that simple. When the Pacers get beat and beat bad it is because they forget how to play defense. When the Pacers play good defense they have a chance to win every game.
Game 1 is in the books. Chalk one up for the Heat but don’t count the Pacers out. Game 2 will be a difficult game for the Pacers to win. Playing Game 2 in Miami after such a heartbreaker will be tough but this Pacer team is young and has a short memory. It is critical for the Pacers to come out strong in Game 2 and show not the world, not the Heat, but themselves they can come back from a tough loss and still be competitive. The Pacers didn’t win Game 1 but they only have to steal one game in Miami. The Bulls won game 1 in Miami and look where they are now – sitting at home watching the Heat play the Pacers. Live, love and play like there is no tomorrow – thanks for reading!!
