As the Colts step into their first preseason game here are some things to look for over the next four weeks before the regular season starts:
1) The Front Line – It is no secret that the Colts have struggled keeping their quarterback safe over the past few years. Andrew Luck made the front line look better than they were last year with his mobility. Building a strong front line has been increasingly important not only to keep Luck safe but improve the running game. Thankfully the Colts recognize the importance and have been putting the pieces together for a better front line over the past three years. This offensive line is still fairly young, with many players entering their 3rd, 4th or 5th season, but there is a noticeable difference in talent level. Samson Satele, Colts center, and Andrew Luck should be getting more comfortable with each so coordination should continue to improve. Overall Colts fans should be optimistic about the front line – but if they struggle beware it could be a tough season.
Again, I am not going to make any predictions, especially on a pre-season game, but be sure to watch the Colts carefully. If the offensive line struggles, the running game will struggle and the Colts offensive will struggle. If the offensive line can play well – the Colts are in a position to do well.
