Wait, what? Peyton isn’t fitting in out in Denver? Benton, has grad school driven you completely insane? The Broncos came one poorly defended Hail Mary short of going to the super bowl. Where’s the problem? They have Wes Welker now? Yes, I know and no, grad school has not completely melted my brain yet…yet. There is nothing wrong with this Broncos team as a whole. Sure they are on their third string center and they lost one of their best pass rushers to free agency and the other one for 6 games due to banned substance issues, but it’s still Peyton Freaking Manning with three excellent wide receivers. Peyton’s not going to know to throw to he has so many options. Don’t worry Broncos fans, the team will do just fine, but the problem is you.
Earlier this week, Peyton spoke on a sports radio show and laughingly suggested that the crowd here in Denver should take it down a few decibels when he and his high-octane offense are on the field. That’s right; the Broncos fans are too loud when he’s on offense. If you think back to his Indy days, you’d remember being able to hear a pin drop in the Dome or Lucas Oil when number 18 was out on the field. Then, when the opponent’s offense took the field the blue and white clad fans blew the roof off the place, so much so that teams suggested we were piping in crowd noise. Quit whining Belichick, you went for it on fourth and two from your own 28 yard line. Apparently, the Denver fans haven’t been trained as well as we were in Indy. This isn’t too much of a slight to Broncos fans. I’m actually rather impressed. Mile High is open-air, so the fact that the Broncos fans are too loud is impressive. Granted, Mile High holds about 11,000 more people than Lucas Oil but that’s a lot of screaming. I’m sure Peyton will have them groomed in no time and he’ll be leading his orange clad offense up and down the field.
Alright, that’ll do it for me. I’ve got to finish up some work before the Rockies-Reds game tonight. I’ll give you ten guesses as to who I’m rooting for and the first nine don’t count. Have a great long weekend. Happy Labor Day everyone! Fire up those grills!
