Today’s post is instead about some not so minor changes coming to Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. If you haven’t already heard the Pacers are dropping $16 million on a new jumbotron scoreboard and upgrades to the audio system. If you have heard then you know that jumbotron doesn’t really describe what is headed to the Fieldhouse. I think “supertron” may better describe it. You could maybe even say it’s Jerry Jones/Cowboy Stadium-esque (well maybe not that big). In the picture below you can see a model designed to scale of the new center court scoreboard. The projection screen behind the guy is roughly the size of the current scoreboard. The new megatron (no wait that’s the ruler of the Decepticons)…supertron...measures 50 ft. long by 21 ft. high along the sidelines and is capped at each end by a 25ft. high by 14 ft. wide screen facing the baselines.
I’m really interested to know what you all think about the new scoreboard so leave a comment here, comment on our Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Those-Sports-Guys/130143813706416), or send us (or me) a tweet @thosesportsguys/@HoosierPioneer. I have included a link below to provide some more details on the system. I really do want to know what you all think, especially if you are in the Indianapolis area (unlike me). Have a great Friday and weekend.
