Going to church more frequently is a New Year’s resolution and the majority of churches were closing down on Sunday due to the forecast of bad weather. The only issue was Church went from 5PM to 6:30PM and the Colts played at 4:30PM followed by the Pacers at 7:00PM. I decided to DVR the game knowing very well that I would most likely be able to catch the last quarter or two without any issue. Besides, what better way to help my team then to going to church and praying for a victory!
I turn on my phone as the service let out to check the status of the game. I noticed that I had nine new texts from Those Sports Guys which could be a good thing but I went to the Sports Center APP on my phone first to check the score. The Colts were down 38 to 10 early in the 3rd quarter. I let out a remark about how God doesn’t always answer prayers how we would like but hey, it’s just a game. By the time Kathryn and I made it home the Colts had scored and the game was now 38 to 17 but my hope was still subdue.
Then, all of a sudden the Colts started to march back to victory. Behind the efforts of Andrew Luck to T.Y. Hilton on offense and Robert Mathis on defense the Colts slowly come back. By the time the Colts had made climbed back to 41 to 31 defect, I was pacing back and forth. The Colts were second and goal on the 3 yard line and my heart sunk. Donald Brown had lost the football and it was bouncing around. Then out of nowhere the ball hit the back of a linemen, Andrew Luck picked it up and dove into the end zone. Colt Nation, Chiefs and I all knew that God doesn't always answer in the fashion that we would like but he clearly was answering my prayers!
P.S. – To put the frosting on the cake the Pacers beat up the Pelicans and won later Saturday night. It is a good year to be a Hoosier.
