As the TNT guys you, when it comes to game 7, you throw out the first 6 and that is absolutely true. As I spoke to my father briefly before game 7, we talked about the fact that the Pacers needed to limit guys other than LeBron from scoring. Everybody on the Heat found a way to score. We talked about the Pacers needing to limit turnovers... that definitely didn't happen. The Pacers dominated the paint most of the series, we figured that would be a given for the Pacers, we were wrong. Same with the glass. The Heat won. But that doesn't take away from what the Pacers did this season.
The Pacers won as a small market team... That's not supposed to happen. They didn't have a "big 3", some one different came up big every game. They changed a decade long perception about the team being a team of "thugs". They played defense first. They overcame their best player, for all intensive purposes, not being a part of the roster all year. Their coach took a bunch of young athletic guys and made them a team... made them buy into a philosophy. They won a series the "Experts" gave them no hope in (against the heat). They made the national media and casual fan pay attention (Mike and Mike, you are wrong, Hibbert had it right). You hit the champs in the mouth (figuratively and literally) and ALMOST knocked them off their pedestal. But more than anything, they proved they belong. They proved they can play with the big boys. They proved they demand respect. The Heat, regular season and playoffs, were dead even with the Pacers. Learn from this Pacers... Remember this... and when you are here next year... change the outcome.
Thank you Pacers, it was one hell of a ride
