It is difficult to win a game when you have three turnovers in a game and you dig yourself an 18 point hole in the first half. Big Ben just did not have his head on his shoulders throwing two key interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown. If you are a Steelers fan the only thing worst then watching Big Ben flop was listening to Furgy "sing," if you can call it singing. To make things worst for the Steelers was that Rodgers looked like a veteran on the field throwing three touchdowns, no interceptions and completed over 60% of his passes for over 300 yards!
I can't help but wonder how Favre is feeling sitting at home watching the team he once loved win the Super Bowl behind another quarterback. This is only Rodgers sixth season in the NFL and only his third season starting and he already has a ring! Only time will tell if Rodgers will continue on to be one of the greats but he sure is off to a great start. The only thing holding Rodgers back and keeping the Steelers in the game was a slue of drop passes by the Packers receivers.
The only saving grace for the Steelers besides the occasional drop pass by Green Bay was small bursts of brilliance displayed by Big Ben. There are two great examples of Roethlisberger displaying why he already owns two rings. The first one occurred when he lead his Steelers to a touchdown before the half by completing an eight yard pass to Hines Ward. The second shining moment for Big Ben was in the fourth quarter when he lead the Steelers down the field and scored a touchdown with a 25 yard pass to Mike Wallace. Then an excellent play call by the Steelers allowed them to close the gap to within three by completing a two point conversion.
But this night was not about the Steelers...it was about the Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers. Rodgers wasn't the only reason the Packers won that game though...Jordy Nelson, James Jones and who can forget Greg Jennings all performed in the big game with some big plays. As all of my regular readers know I am a Colts fan but I have to admit it was fun to watch the Packers win this years Super Bowl. A young quarterback whom has been under a magnifying glass led his team to a world championship and did it with class. Enjoy this victory Green Bay and remember who battled to bring the lombardi trophy to Green Bay again.
